Community Cohesion

 

BUILD GOOD COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Conduct research into emerging communities and provide information to MCC; also advise MCC on developments and issues within established BME communities

Establish, organise and drive the Somali community forum and other community forums, when the need arises
Promote religious tolerance, e.g. Adam Day, Abraham’s Table, etc.

Liaise between BME communities and public bodies

Liaise between new and established communities

Understanding of BME needs and issues leads to appropriate MCC policies and strategies

Good relations between MCC, other public bodies and the local Somali community

Good community relations between people of all faiths in Manchester

Enhanced community relations between BME communities and public bodies

CONFLICT RESOLUTION

 

Undertake conflict resolution between individuals, communities and representative groups

Produce protocols for public bodies and BME communities to address conflict

RACE HATE CRIMES & RACIAL DISCRIMINATION
Provide support to individuals and organisations that are victims of racial discrimination or racial harassment

Employment discrimination referrals

Race Hate crimes research

Victims of race hate crimes supported

Victims of employment discrimination receive legal advice and support

New MCCR hate crime and racial harassment service established
